DescriptionIn the last century Tellin was known for its bell foundry, which employed some 10% of the local population. To keep this historical and industrial heritage alive, an old farmhouse was been converted into the Bell and Carillon Museum in 1992. Visitors are shown films on giant screens about ancient and modern bell-casting techniques, and then can visit three exhibitions: - bells that are used to tell the time in striking clocks - the use of electronic watches to tell the time (Campa collection) - the wrought-iron mechanisms used in church tower clocks - the symbolism of time (in French the same word “temps” means both “time” and “weather”), collection of weather-vanes (Golinvaux and Le Boulangé collections). Guidebook available in English. Guided tours in English available for groups on request.
